Didi Benami, the singer/waitress from Tennessee was sent home during last night’s American Idol 2010 elimination.

She’s one of the bottom 3 idols who garnered the lowest number of votes after the 2-hour nationwide text votes held after the show Tuesday evening. It was a sad day for Didi Benami who got emotional during rehearsal for the song “What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted” along with American R&B singer Usher.

The other 2 idol contestants who joined Didi Benami on the hot seat were Katie Stevens and Tim Urban, who is a consistent bottom 3 contender for the past 3 weeks. Tim who is now known as “Teflon Tim” proved that he is some tough cookie to reckon with. He has survived 3 elimination weeks but did he finally exhausted all his aces? We’ll see next week.

Didi Benami was given the chance to perform another song in hope to please the judges unanimously and veto the nationwide vote results. She sang “Rhiannon”, the Fleetwood Mac song that judges thought was her best performance during the show.

After the performance, Simon Cowell, who was sweating during the announcement, delivered the bad news,  “ Didi, it’s bad news sweetheart, we’re not gonna save you. Sorry”. And added, “ But I’m gonna tell you, it was a million times better than what you did last night.”

Some people were surprised why Siobhan Magnus wasn’t included in the bottom three since her performance was also lousy. A big turn around also for Andrew Garcia for reclaiming himself with the acoustic version of Chris Brown’s “Forever”.

The American Idol season 9 is just heating up and we’ll see more exciting events and twist of fate on weeks to come.
