Ashley Wagner is a figure skater in the United States and is one of the best in the country. She is only eighteen years old, born on May 16, 1991 in Germany. Wagner started skating when she was at the young age of five and has been skating ever since. She was born in Germany because her father was in the army at the time and he was in the U.S. Base there. Her younger brother, Austin, is also a famous skater.

Ashley’s success started in 1998 when she won her first gold medal. She started getting into the “U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships” and she won several silver and bronze medals. Recently, she participated in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. She worked really hard and had a wonderful performance, which earned her the bronze medal. Unfortunately, she did not qualify for the 2010 Olympic team.

This year, the Olympic team decided that they would only take the gold and silver medalists to participate, instead of the usual top three performers. This is only the second time since 1924 that this has had to happen. Ashley is still young though, and she has lots of promising talent and many years ahead of her. Surely, in the future she will be able to make it into the Olympic team and represent the U.S. in a worldwide competition.
