I don’t know about you guys but whenever I see another alien type of movie. It makes my stomach want to burp another excessive gas of “boringness”. Simply because it’s predictable (you know the ending already just by looking the first 5 minutes of the movie)

And also the effects are a little bit banal (poorly paid).

The movie that we are featuring today will shatter those comments I have above. District-9 gives me high-hopes that this will not be “just” your ordinary alien movie.

From the plot itself coming from wikipedia. It’s something more “deeper”.

If you don’t want to be spoiled by that formal plot from wiki, that makes the two of us the same! I hate plots, it looks like a mini-spoiler that gives you a phony impression of what you will see in the big screen.

Coming from the mouth of self-proclaimed movie critiques from RT and IMDB, District 9 has the following criteria:

imdb_logo RT_logo
  • Alien-scenes like you haven’t seen before since the days of Independence day.
  • A Bombastic Hi-Def effects (as expected)
  • Rotten Tomatoes – known as a bitter critique for sci-fi movies gave it an 88% rating
  • IMDB – One of the de-facto for rating movies in the internet tagged it with a 9.1 out of 10.
  • A profound alien-tale that keeps you hanging on your seat.

Is that the type of sci-fi movie you would want to miss, guys?

You ought to see the HD-Trailer.

That movie reminds me of three things:

  1. Starcraft- One of the few games that made Blizzard company an empire.
  2. Mech-warrior
  3. The movie Independence day

It’s also worth adding that Neil Blomkamp (Director of D-9) was one of the chosen directors for the 2005 movie HALO. known to be an insanely popular Xbox game for its genre.

I just don’t know why the alien looks like a “uncook” shrimp? Well, I leave that to your ruling. :D

Official release date in the Philippines: August 19, 2009
