Halldor Helgason is an Icelandic snowboarder with lots of talent as well as potential. He is the younger brother of Eiki Helgason, who is also a great Icelandic snowboarder. Last Friday, Halldor was awarded with the title of Rookie of the Year at the Transworld Riders’ Poll Awards.

Halldor says that he didn’t intend to win the award, but he was surprised and was very appreciative of the honor of the title. His main goal was to be a great snowboarder, riding, and filming as much as he could. But these things most likely contributed to his winning the award. This is a historic event since this is the first time that an Icelandic snowboarder has ever won Rookie of the Year twice.

That same day, Hallador also happened to win the Men’s Slopestyle Elims at the Winter X Games 14. Hallador started out snowboarding in Iceland and Sweden. Later on this season, he will be at the DC Mountain Lab, and he will be sure to do the last stop at the Dew Tour. He will be filmed by Standard and will be posting his latest updates on his shared blog with his brother, Helgasons. So be sure to stay updated and watch this talented young snowboarder.
