He Pingping, World’s Smallest Man Dies

Before the latest heated episode of the Amazing Race has ended, a presentation was shown in memory of He Pingping, the world’s smallest man. He Pingping was not just the smallest man in the world but also an inspiration of many considering his disability he was still able to live a meaningful life.

He Pingping was the 3rd child of a family in Huade county, city of Ulanqab in the northern part of China. He had sisters who stand a record height of 7 feet tall while he got the Guinness World Record as the world’s smallest man with the height of 74 centimeter or 2 ft 5 inches.  His father said that after his birth he was so small that he fit in his parent’s palm. He was diagnosed with a bone deformity osteogenesis imperfect or primordial dwarfism, a disease that hinders normal bone growth and body height.

On March 3, 2010 while in Rome Italy filming the show “The Record Show”, he was brought to the hospital for his chest pains complaints. After 10 days, on March 13, 2010 he died because of heart complications. He was known to be a chain smoker.

He became the record holder in the year 2008 and was able to make a huge impact in the world.
