This came quite a surprise for everyone as it was reported recently that French model Isabelle Caro died at the age of 28—last November 17. It was only this week that her death was revealed by her colleagues.

Caro was known to be the one who posed nude for an anti-anorexia campaign while she herself was suffering from anorexia. After being treated for an acute respiratory illness for 15 days, she died, according to Caro’s friend, Swis singer Vincent Bigler.

He did not know exactly what was the cause of her death, nor did he mention why it took a long time for them to reveal her death.

Caro, who stands 5 feet 4 inches a and weighted 32 kg, posed nude for the anti -anorexia campaign in 2007, at a time when there was a debate in the fashion industry about using “ultra-kinny” models in the runway. For Caro, she allowed to pose for the campaign in order to use her sickness to get her message across, which is thinness can lead to death if forced on a person. In her case, where models do not eat or vomit their food in order to maintain their figure required for modelling.

Unfortunately, despite doing it for a good cause, some of Caro’s ads were banned from other countries, especially on her home country, France.

According to Caro’s acting instructor, Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, the model died after returning from a job in Tokyo. Her family and close friends held a private funeral in Paris just last month.

I think I understand the privacy of Caro’s death, especially since she had a lot of suffering when she was still alive. I do hope her situation would serve as a lesson for models and for the higher-ups of the fashion industry, as well as those who want to become a model, that being thin does not mean you are beautiful. In fact, it could lead to danger for the body of the woman if they are not careful. May Caro rest in peace and I hope he death would not be in vain.

First I see her emmaciated picture. Then I scroll down and see pictures of other women who seem like a contradiction to the efforts of Isabelle Caro.

This is really a very sad story. It is time we end this unreasonable obsession of thinness…
