A flight attendant of JetBlue Flight 1052 has exited himself at the plane’s inflatable emergency slide upon landing, noon of August 9, 2010. The incident was triggered by a conflict encountered by the attendant with one of the passengers, who on the otherhand had violated the plane proper landing procedures.

The flight attendant, Steven Slater, 38, was arrested at his home in Queens. He was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

Some witnesses said that the passenger in conflict with Slater stood as the plane landed and took his baggage before the attendants have given permission. Slater had instructed the passenger to remain seated. But the passenger did not listen and took his luggage still. When Slater approached him, he was struck in the head by the luggage.

When Slater asked for an apology, the passenger cursed him instead. In anger, Slater returned cursing the passenger using the plane’s public address system. Then he activated the evacuation slide at service exit, launched himself, ran into the parking and left the airport in his car. Some onlookers claimed that he took cans of beer in the galley before exiting the plane.

JetBlue said they are now working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in investigating the matter.

Updates: Yesterday, Steven Slater already bailed and was out. Little did he know that he already got thousands of fans in Facebook.
