It may be a little hard to believe but today marks the 30th birthday of the popular book character Harry Potter. The story of the ‘boy-who-lived’ was first released on 1997 by world-renowned author J.K. Rowling and became an instant “hit” during the turn of the millennium.

Harry Potter’s real birthday is on July 31, 1980 – which Rowling patterned from her own. Several Harry Potter fans around the world (parents and children) are celebrating the birthday of their favorite book hero. People would agree that Rowling’s feat – writing 7 Harry Potter saga about wizards – is considered a living masterpiece and legacy.

Moreover, Harry Potter is not the only one who is celebrating his special day. Coincidentally, Daniel Radcliffe – the actor who played Harry’s character in the film, is still celebrating his 21st birthday (July 23) among friends and family in London, England.

As for updates on the upcoming Harry Potter film, fans are eagerly waiting  for the last movie installment of the book ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. The film was separated into two parts – with the first part to be released on November while the second one is set to be out by mid of 2011.
