The famous chef Mario Batali had been very vocal about his advocacy in the Meatless Mondays movement. Although the chef is a known meat lover, he is starting to take less of it knowing that it’s not that good for health. He started doing remarkable acts in order to help others in achieving a well balanced diet and good health. During Mondays his restaurants including Babbo, Del Posto, Esca, Lupa, Carnevino Italian Steakhouse and Osteria Mozza will offer at least two vegetarian entrees. The menu will include the Meatless Monday logo.

Batali said that people in the U.S. had been eating meat more than that is good for their heath. Being a vegetarian, which is the solution considered by some is not that realistic. According to him, what people need is to have a plant based diet, being healthy yet still supporting farmers and poultry owners That’s why he greatly believe in the Meatless Mondays Movement.

Other known supporters of Meatless Mondays Movement include Michael Pollan, Al Gore, Sir Paul McCartney, Simon Cowell and Gwyneth Paltrow. The project began in 2003 and encourages people to opt to go meatless once a week.
