Finally, the fifth season of the popular talent show America’s Got Talent had a winner. Michael Grimm bested Jackie Evancho to win the grand prize of the reality talent show. Grimm’s soulful rendition of the Percy Sledge song “When a Man Loves a Woman” gave him a standing ovation from the audience.

Although ten-year old Jackie Evancho was the crowd favorite, Grimm made the vote in the end of the nerve racking final five minutes of the show from online and television viewers.

Michael Grimm’s fairy tale story finally bore fruit. His voyage started when he auditioned in Los Angeles for the fifth season of America’s Got Talent and impressed the three judges by singing, “You Don’t Know Me”, by Eddy Arnold to advance to Vegas Week. He sang the song, “Try a Little Tenderness”, by Irving King to enter the quarterfinals, and, “Tired of Being Alone”, by Al Green to qualify for the semifinals. During the semifinals, he contracted an illness but still continued his impressive performances by singing, “You Can Leave Your Hat On”, by Randy Newman which was praised by the judges who gave him a spot in the Top Ten. Grimm qualified for the Final Four with his rendition of Al Grenn’s, “Let’s Stay Together”.

Grimm’s prize in the talent show is a million dollars plus an act in Las Vegas for a year.
