Last year, country singer Taylor Swift went onstage to accept her award in the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (2009 VMA) as Best Female Video. As she was saying her acceptance speech Kanye West, a rapper and record producer went onstage and grabbed the microphone from her saying that Beyonce’s Singing Ladies (Put A Ring Into It) should have won the award and not Swift’s You Belong To Me. Everyone in the audience was shocked and West was booed by the audience. He was later removed from the show and was banned from it for the rest of the night. The press had a field day afterwards with quotes coming from different people about West’s behavior.

A year later, in the same event date on September 13, Taylor Swift introduced her new song, Innocent. The lyrics of the song was clearly a message to Kanye West , who was later to perform on the show , that all is forgiven. It was really an affirmation from Swift since West has been apologizing to her for some time. Check out Swift’s VMA 2010 performance after the cut.

It was the only intriguing part of the 2010 VMA, nothing interesting happened afterwards except maybe Lady Gaga’s outfit. The rest of the night was capped with award giving and performances as it should be. Lady Gaga, and Eminem, took most of the awards with Lady Gaga taking Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Dance Video, Best Collaboration Video and Best Pop Video and the rapper taking the Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video. Best New Artist went to Justin Bieber and Best Rock Video went to the band 30 Seconds to Mars.

With not much feuding to spark controversy, the show was a bit ‘dull’ except maybe for some performances. Well, there is still next year!
