Five time Grammy Award winners, Naomi and Wynona Judd , appeared at The Oprah Winfrey Show today to promote their upcoming reunion tour in November. The country music duo, also known as The Judds, was Oprah Winfrey’s celebrity guests.

In the one hour show, the Judds talked about their lives and their relationship with each other. Naomi, 64, talked about her health and how she struggled from Hepatitis C. Wynona, 46, talked about her near fatal surgery and her experience in a car accident. There was also a segment wherein a video of the Judds’ farm was shown.

The Judds have been recording songs since 1983. They have recorded more than ten albums and have had a total of fifteen Number One hits in the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In 1991, the country duo disbanded due to Naomi’s contracting of Hepatitis C. The illness forced her to retire. Their “Farewell” tour in 1991 became the top grossing musical event in pay-per-view cable on that year. After 1991, Wynona went into a successful solo career. Her hit songs were certified platinum (more than one million sold to the public) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The Judds reunited in 2008 and appeared briefly together onstage in a concert at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California. The country duo is now embarking in a tour titled “The Last Encore” which will start in November of 2010. This will be the last tour they will make as The Judds.

Oprah made the right selection of having them as guests. The episode today was interesting. I hope her other episodes for the final season will be too.
