Robert De Niro: New President of Cannes Jury

Robert De Niro will head the 9-member Cannes Film Festival jury this year.

De Niro is one of the most respected names in the industry. He is also the founder of both the New York’s Tribeca and Qatar’s Doha Tribeca FIlm festivals. He bagged the recognition of Palme d-Or twice for the masterpieces “Taxi Driver” and “The Mission” in the Cannes.

According to De Niro, it is such an honor to be part of the jury that is responsible in choosing excellent films that has affected and has influenced culture across the globe. Cannes Film Festival is one of the oldest and has been appreciated for its contributions in selecting for films that shaped the history of film making.

Organizers are confident that with De Niro’s long time existence and influence in the movie industry, he is the right fit for the post. They are in full trust of De Niro’s capabilities as his Tribeca Film Festival will be on its 10th anniversary this year.

His heart and dedication to the film industry for several decades have made a big mark on screen and his iconic figure has helped inspire newbies, too.

De Niro remains consistent in delivering quality films to millions of audience as in his latest movie “Little Fockers” which is the sequel of “Meet the Parents” made it at UK, Ireland, and North American box offices.
