Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards are recognition given to the most outstanding actors who deliver art in motion. On its 17th annual recognition, SAG 2011 honors the best on-screen performances for the year 2010. The much awaited event was held at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, CA last January 30. The venue has been a home to SAG for fifteen consecutive years.

This year’s big winners are Colin Firth in “The King’s Speech” and Natalie Portman in “Black Swan”. The Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture was also awarded to the epic movie, The King Speech. In his acceptance speech for “The King Speech” recognition, Geoffrey Rush said “It shouldn’t be called the SAG award; it should be called the uplifting award.” Many people anticipated the winners to bag the major awards.

SAG 2011 presented the SAG’s Life Achievement Award to Ernest Borgnine. The award was given to Borgnine for his outstanding role in the movie industry.

The recently held SAG 2011 brought smiles and tears to all the winners. What a great birthday gift indeed for Christian Bale who won the Best Supporting Actor. On the other hand, Melissa Leo won the Best Supporting Actress for her role on “The Fighter”, together with Bale.
