Reports said that the St. Vrain Valley School District intends to end its 33-year partnership with the city of Longmont to equally deal with the Vance Brand Civic Auditorium at Skyline High School.

The Board of Education is scheduled to vote on the plan during Wednesday’s meeting. If the school district exclusively directs the Vance Brand Civic Auditorium, it no longer will have to pay to use it.

Community organizations, such as the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, that use the hall will not be able to find the venue. Rental fees won’t change, but with who those associations will work with is unclear. Ring said it’s not comprehensible up until now who they will work with.

Longmont community services director Karen Roney, who operates on the auditorium’s cooperative operating committee, said the city and school district signed the joint contract in 1977 to create an auditorium for the community to utilize.

Roney knew the district was considering the move, but said the city hadn’t yet received official notice.
