Showtime’s new original series “The Big C” will be premiering this Monday, August 16, 2010 after “Weeds”. Starred with a very good actress Laura Linney, The Big C is a comedy series about a cancer patient, in the character of Cathy Jamison, a mother and a school teacher who decided after the diagnosis that she will live her life to the fullest and to the freakiest.

Co-starring Laura Linney are Oliver Platt, Cathy’s husband, John Benjamin Hickey, Cathy’s brother, Phyllis Somerville, Cathy’s grouchy neighbour, Gabriel Basso, Cathy’s bratty son, Gabourey Sidibe, Cathy’s student and Reid Scott, Cathy’s doctor. The cast completes the smart and funny comedy series turning a sad cancer story into laughter and inspiration.

The story revolves around Cathy Jamison, a wife, a mother and a school teacher who used to be in perfect control of her suburban life in Minneapolis. But after she was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, she decided for an immediate change in her life. She confronted her immature husband, spoiled son and wildly outspoken brother. She then made new relationships with the least expected people like her grouchy neighbour Marlene and mean student Andrea.

The Big C guarantees a series people will love. The advance buzz of the series had already brought Laura Linney on the covers of many magazines.
