And probably, Hell would break loose on the day it will be announced

The ousted and convicted ex-President Joseph Estrada was convinced that he was “left” with no choice but to run for President on 2010. The actor and former President told AFP (Agence France-Presse) that “Yes, I will run”. He also chose Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay as his Vice Presidential candidate. The formal announcement about his candidacy will be made next week at the Sto. Nino church in Tondo, Manila. His Senatorial line-ups will also be included on the said announcement.

Along with Mayor Binay who was reported to fill the Vice-Presidency position, the Senatoriables included on Erap’s pact are Jinggoy Estrada, Juan Ponce Enrile, Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Teodoro Locsin Jr.; Grace Poe, daughter of the late actor Fernando Poe Jr.; businessman Joey de Venecia III, and detained Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim. Two vacant senatorial seats are still up for grabs. The Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) is still negotiating with (actor) Edu Manzano to join their party.

Erap previously explained that he wants to become President “for the sake of poor masses who lost the chance to improve their lives (via his program) when he was deposed of Presidency on 2001″.

I am so frustrated because I was not able to continue my program for the poor people. And I was not able to bring this country back to its image, that this is an honest-to-goodness government and a sovereign nation

Do you still believe this?

We really can’t tell if Erap’s charisma can still “spin” Filipinos’ minds. Perhaps he could get the masa (poor people) that compose almost 60% of Philippine voters. However, many people firmly believes that the former President doesn’t have what it takes to lead the Philippines. They think Erap is all TV acts, macho image and nothing else. Can he offer more than his “sales” talks?

We have anticipated this move by Erap long before. This is also an indicator that Bro. Mike Velarde will be a supporter of Estrada’s candidacy. But of course, the real acid test will be on May 2010 Elections Day. That day will reveal if it’s time to move on (non Erap President) or if it’s time to pack your bags and leave the country (if Erap wins). (source: Inquirer.net)

  1. He should not run for presidency anymore after all the charges and the shameful acts he committed during his term that led for him to be ousted.
