The game USA versus Ghana of World Cup 2010 impressed the crowd and ended up in a 2-1 play in favor of Ghana at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg, South Africa Saturday night, June 26, 2010. The Round-of-16 soccer play ended with a tie and Ghana in their third minute of the overtime scored to win over USA.

Asamoah Gyan’s left-foot strike has brought Ghana into the World Cup quarter-finals. “We were strong and we fought very hard,” Gyan said. Before Jay DeMerit could stop Gyan, the Ghana hero sprung into a 15-yard shot to goalkeeper Tim Howard, who at his end seemed to expect a lower attempt. The Americans, in the remaining minutes, aimed to beat Ghana’s winning score. Clint Dempsey’s attempt went blocked in the penalty area. Herculez Gomez’s 20-yarder and Jay DeMerit’s try also failed.

Ghana will play against Uruguay in the quarter-finals. The team USA eliminated by the 2-1 loss went home just the same with the last 2006 World Cup.

Among the crowd of the 34,976 spectators of Royal Bafokeng Stadium were Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger and Kobe Bryant. President Barrack Obama also stepped away from the G20 Summit meeting to catch up with the USA versus Ghana World Cup match.
